The brief
The Spidercam delivers footage that makes a live broadcast unforgettable: dynamic flights right through the atmosphere of a packed stadium.
For the system to hover safely, the camera hangs from four cables controlled by winches in the corners of the stadium. Every anchor point has to be exactly right, and every component must be fully certified for operation above people.
That is exactly where our responsibility lies: finding and assessing anchor points in the roof structure, calculating loads and planning the cable paths precisely. All under the pressure of a live production where there is no second take.
The execution
SilverBones planned and built the entire installation at the Red Bull Arena Leipzig. From the structural analysis and load capacities of the rigging points to the installation of the winches and pulleys, everything was closely coordinated with the stadium operator and the camera team. Redundancy and clean documentation are as much part of the scope as the fast and safe dismantling before the next event.
The result
A reliable installation: the Spidercam flies, the director gets perfect pictures and the stadium can be certain that maximum safety prevails above the spectators' heads.
